* Fat Tuesday is three months from today.

* Some media outlets are treating as "Breaking News" an announcement we made on this site on September 3 - the Krewe of Grela will not parade in 2016.

Krewe of Caesar Press Release
Darth Vader and the Star Wars Group of the 501st Legion has been chosen as Grand Marshal of the Krewe of Caesar Parade, which rolls Saturday, January 30, 2016 in Metairie at 6:00 pm. This chapter of the world wide Star Wars Group is known as the 501st Legion of Louisiana. The world wide group has over 10,000 members. They have partnered with Children’s Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation and several other charitable groups to aid in their fund raising efforts.

On September 3, 2015 I joined the Fox 8 News Team and will provide Carnival coverage for the 2016 season for WVUE. After 16 years at WDSU, I leave with fond memories and treasured friendships. The extended news format at Fox 8 allows for better use of my creative talents. I look forward to a fresh start and the new challenges that come with it. I am particularly excited about being a part of the broadcast of the Endymion parade and ball as the club celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2016.

West Bank Mardi Gras News
On September 3, the captain of the Krewe of Grela confirmed that the club will not parade on Fat Tuesday in 2016. The West Bank is left with two parades-Adonis and NOMTOC. In 1994, fourteen parades rolled on that side of the river.

New Orleans Mardi Gras News
2016 Parade Routes - Sgt. Sabrina Richardson of the NOPD last night reported that the construction along Napoleon Avenue should not affect the starting locations of any uptown parades in 2016.

Endymion will announce its celebrity grand marshal next Tuesday.

Metairie Mardi Gras News
The Corps de Napoleon will move its parade to the first weekend of the parade season-Sunday, January 31 at 5:30 PM.

Metairie gains the new female Krewe of Pandora on Lundi Gras at 7 PM. The club is a spin-off of the highly successful Krewe of Nyx in New Orleans

St. Tammany Mardi Gras News
We will see the addition of two parades in St. Tammany Parish. The "Original Orpheus" in Mandeville plans a comeback after a three-year hiatus. The club has 150 members signed up and, pending approval from city officials, will roll on Friday, February 5, 2016.

The Krewe of Poseidon claims a co-ed membership of 400, and plans to parade in Slidell at 1 PM on Sunday, January 10, following the Krewe of Claude parade.

* 2016 Parade Routes - Due to on-going construction, there is a chance that the intersection of Napoleon and Magazine will be impassable for the 2016 parade season, disrupting almost all of the uptown parade routes. This could cause nearly two-dozen parades to start on the South Claiborne and Napoleon.

* The annual fundraiser, Krewes for Kops will be held at Fulton Alley, September 24 at 7PM. For details, visit

* The Mayor's Mardi Gras Advisory Committee has recommended that age restrictions for parade marchers to be moved from 12 to 11 years old and be enforced this coming parade season. The matter now goes before the City Council.

* Metairie gains the new female Krewe of Pandora on Lundi Gras at 7 PM. The club is a spin-off of the highly successful Krewe of Nyx in New Orleans and is not affiliated with the Gentilly-based club by the same name that paraded from 1968-1993.

* Three of Metairie' oldest krewes, Atlas, Thor and Zeus, did not apply for 2016 parades permits by the deadline.
